The Victorian Institute of Teaching (VIT) is an independent statutory authority for the teaching profession, whose primary function is to regulate members of the teaching profession. The VIT was established by the Victorian Institute of Teaching Act 2001 on 18 December 2002.
In summary, VIT needed to eliminate the risk and complexity involved in running a disaster recovery site for their critical applications and required a simplified testing and reporting for compliance that still adhered to audit compliance requirements. VIT also wanted to Improve on the RPO that they currently offer as a business for disaster recovery. VIT engaged Xello to leverage the Cloud to improve on their disaster recovery solution. By engaging Xello, VIT leveraged Azure Site Recovery (ASR) which included migrating their data from their on-premise, secondary datacentre to the cloud, thus addressing their requirement to improve DR, and in so doing, helped them adopt Cloud. Xello took a step-by-step approach for this engagement and started with an assessment of the existing environment to determine if there were any constraints and identify the gaps before configuring Windows Azure Tenancy for VIT.
